  • What makes Pikkels Bakery Unique?
    Pikkels has a wide range of Items that will suit everyone's budget. We love a chanllange and we are extatic to accept one from our customers. Our customers understand that we require a certain level of artistic freedom when it comes to cake design. Fusthermore, we don't do unsightly uncovered cake boards. Your celebration cake will be placed on a beautiful coverd board that does not distract from our creations. We work with you to determine the right portions size, because we hate to see our delicious cakes go to waste.
  • How to order?
    Have a look at our Shop section first, to see if there is something you like, then follow the instructions. Otherwise, see the next question.
  • How to enquire about/order a custom cake?
    Visit our Contact page. There is a list of questions we need/prefer to have answered before we can give you a quote. Answering aal of the questions will save us all a lot of time. Howerver, don't hesitate if you don't have all the infromation yet. Alternatively, drop us an email or on WhatsApp. We don't take orders through Facebook Messenger or SMS.
  • How does payment work?
    Anything ordered through our Shop section: full payment is required withing 7 days of your booking, or immediately if the order is placed within 7 days of delivery/collection. For custom orders: 50% deposit (non-refundable) for invoices over R1000, and/or full invoiced amount (of which 50% is non-refundable or per T's & C's) for invoices under R1000, saves your date and is payable 7 days of booking, or immediately if the order is placed within 7 days of delivery/collection. The outstanding invoiced amount, if any, is payable 7 days before delivery/collection. Honouring our payment schedule will save us a very awkward phone call.
  • When is my order confirmed?
    As soon as we received your deposit or in some cases (as per above mentioned) your date will be booked. We will send you an invoice to confirm this. You should be concerned if you have not received an invoice, please email us immediately.
  • I cannot pay the deposit now, but I definitely want to use you, can I pay you later?"
    Unfortunately, your date will not be booked and orders will not be started unless your deposit is paid. You are welcome to delay the payment, but please check back with us before paying, to make sure we are still available for your date.
  • Will you deliver and setup at our venue?
    Yes, we deliver, and yes, we do setups at your venue. In fact we prefer delivering wedding cakes to ensure it arrives safe. Delivery and setup will be charged per KM.
  • What is your portion size?
    We offer medium (2.5cm x 5cm) and large (5cm x 5cm) portions. Consider the height of your cake as well when determining amount of cake your guests will be served. All cakes in our Shop section is based on small portions.
  • I hate dry cakes, what can I expect from Pikkels Bakery?"
    Customers are always surprised by how moist our bakes are and we pride ourself in this. We apologise on behalf of the baking community that you have had to go through such a terrible experience as eating dry cake. Now you have us and you won't ever have to go through that again!
  • Can you write Happy Birthday on the cake?
    Yes, but it will be as a fondant banner classfully displayed. You can also order a cake topper through us with your message you require, please note this has a minimum order time of 4 weeks as it is made by Liqerish Lazer Cutting.
  • How do I transport/handle/store my bakes once received?
    All bakes prefer a cool environment (not a fridge) and a flat sturdy surface. Transport any bakes on a flat surface (not your car seat) and turn on your air conditioning, especially on a hot day. Do NOT leave any baked goods in direct sunlight, as it will definitely be ruined. Store bakes in a cool place and in an airtight container after it has been cut or removed from Pikkels Bakery boxes. Only Buttercream cakes can be stored in the fridge and taken out an hour or two before serving, please ensure that all fondant detail is removed before placed in fridge. Once buttercream cake has been sliced, place glad wrap on exposed cake, making sure it is sealed so that there is no cake that will get exposed to air and dry out, and again store in the fridge.
  • Do you do sugar flowers and fondant figures?
    Yes, we do. Send us a photo of what you have in mind and we will produce a topper or flower looking as close to your photo as possible...and we are pretty good at it if we can toot our own hooter. Please note that this might affect your price, depending on detail and size.
  • Should I inform you about any allergies?
    YES!!! Please tell us BEFORE you order anything. It is important to us not to poison any customers and we take great care when we are dealing with allergie based orders. Please take into consideration that your geusts might also have allergies. We work in a kitchen where nuts, eggs, gluten, and other allergens are used, and when working with special allergy orders we try our upmost best that there is no cross contamination, but it can happen and therefore please read all T's & C's.
  • Can I provide you with a cake topper of my own?
    Yes, providing it is not a fondant topper as we make them ourselfs as well. Any other (plastic, cheramic, wooden, etc) toppers can be delivered to our premises or in case of a wedding, left on the cake table to be set up.
  • How far in advance should I order?
    As soon as possible. But because of uncertainty of input costs (ingredients) and availability, we cannot guarantee the quoted price more than 9 months ahead. We can however give you an estimate if your event falls after 9 months in advance, and review it closer to the event date.
